Customs Officers Apprehend Fugitive Wanted for Sexual Abuse of a Child in Texas

Posted on August 11, 2023 by Gregory Hoyt

MISSION, TX – According to a press release from Customs and Border Protection (CBP), CBP officers working at the Anzalduas International Bridge apprehended a 79-year-old fugitive who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for sexual abuse of a child.

On August 7th, Inocencio Garza De La Rosa reportedly came through the Anzalduas International Bridge while returning from Mexico, where CBP officers immediately took De La Rosa into custody following the discovery of the outstanding warrant.

De La Rosa, a Mexican national who is reportedly a lawful permanent resident based out of Robstown, Texas, had been a fugitive since July after the warrant for sexual abuse of a child was issued by authorities out of Euless, Texas. CBP officers transferred custody over to Mission Police upon the arrival of a local officer, with local authorities taking him to the local county jail pending extradition to Euless.

Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, who covers Port of Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas, issued the following statement regarding the apprehension of De La Rosa:

“CBP screens all travelers entering the United States. We are committed to bringing in those individuals to face criminal charges, especially those wanted for heinous crimes against children.”

If De La Rosa is convicted of the aforementioned offense, his status as a lawful permanent resident can face ramifications, including revocation.
